This monument, located in casemate no. 35 of the 3rd line of defense of Marckolsheim, commemorates the terrible battles of June 15, 16 and 17, 1940 during which the city of Marckolsheim was destroyed more than 80%. The rooms have been restored as they looked in 1940.
Shooting rooms, power unit, dormitory, command post, drinking water well, etc. In these rooms there are weapons of that period, as well as anti-tank guns, machine guns, mortars, light machine guns and original optical aggregates. Numerous showcases contain a complete set of armor with ammunition, war souvenirs and photographs from 1939 and 1940, in particular a 152 mm Russian gun, a Sherman tank, a half-track, a wheeled armored vehicle, a field kitchen, a anti aircraft gun "Bofors" and a part of a "Bailey bridge".
